'anugeraHitz.sg 2010' Nominees Announced
Singapore, 24 February 2010 ¨C MediaCorp Suria, MediaCorp radio stations Warna 94.2FM and Ria 89.7FM and Composers and Authors Society of Singapore (COMPASS) revealed the anugeraHitz.sg nominees this afternoon. anugeraHitz.sg is the first collaborative effort involving the three organisers to honour the best in the local Malay music industry. Hosted by Fauzie and Fiza O, anugeraHitz.sg will be telecast live from MediaCorp TV Theatre on Saturday, 3 April 2010 at 8.30pm on Suria. It will also be aired live on Ria.
This inaugural awards show will be presenting a total of 10 award categories and a special ¡°Lifetime Music Achievement¡± award. It aims to recognise recording artistes, composers, lyricists and album producers who have excelled in the music field. Nominations are open to singles, EPs or albums that were released in Singapore from 1 January 2009 to 31 December 2009.
Suria viewers as well as Warna and Ria radio listeners will have the chance to decide and vote for their favourite songs and artistes through the "Most Popular Song" and "Most Popular Artiste" categories.
Nominees were selected by a list of credible judges which includes representatives from the three organizers, Mr Azmeer, an acclaimed Singapore-born singer and composer who made it big in Malaysia, Mr Indra Shahrir, a prolific Music Director and Ms Hartinah Ahmad a well-known writer and lyricist.
The following categories will be presented during anugeraHitz.sg:
- Artis Baru Terbaik (Best New Artiste)
- Duo/Kumpulan Baru Terbaik (Best New Duo/Group)
- Artis Terbaik (Best Artiste)
- Duo/Kumpulan Terbaik (Best Duo/Group)
- Penulis Lirik Terbaik (Best Lyricist)
- Komposer Terbaik (Best Composer)
- Lagu Terbaik (Best Song)
- Album Terbaik (Best Album)
- 3 Lagu Paling Popular (3 Most Popular Songs)
- 3 Artis Paling Popular (3 Most Popular Artistes)
Taufik Batisah and a newly formed alternative group, Diorama, lead the nominations race for this first local Malay music awards show with five (5) total nominations each. Hady Mirza follows with four (4) nominations. Didicazli and Shahridzuan Selamat follow with three (3) nominations each and Aqmal N., Imran Ajmain, Rancour, Revalina, Sleeq and Syed Azmir collected two (2) nominations respectively.

Didicazli, Fauzie Laily, Hady Mirza, Hyrul Anuar, Konspirazy, Kraton, Sarah Aqilah, Sleeq, Syed Azmir and Taufik Batisah make up the Most Popular Artistes nominees.
Music fans can vote to determine the 3 Most Popular Artistes via SMS to 73388. Alternatively, they can vote through mobile phone and/or landline telephone by Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS). Voting to determine the 3 Most Popular Artistes begins today and concludes during the anugeraHitz.sg awards show on 3 April 2010. Each vote costs $0.60.

Leading up to anugeraHitz.sg, there is a 3-episode programme, Hitz.sg on the nominees. Hitz.sg will be aired on Saturdays, 13 March, 20 March and 27 March 2010 at 8.30pm on Suria.
